MTV Rapes the Vote!

It's now well known that if you want to hear real, vicious, hate-filled ugliness in a political discussion, just turn to the tolerant peace activists of the left.

Here's one of many low points in the daily life of some College Republicans as they fight leftism on campus and off.

Note how the MTV employee takes umbrage at being called an MTV employee, not realizing the camera guy can see the employee badge hanging from her jeans pocket.

Lying from the start.

But at 2:30 of the video, she shouts "I hope your wife gets raped and can't get an abortion!"

Ah, the sweet sounds of tolerance and peace as only the American Left can make them.

PROSECUTE THE PROSECUTOR!

Recall, if you will, the unprecedented guff that Ken Starr took during the Clinton investigation.  He's wasting millions of taxpayer dollars, he's biased, he wants to eat your children... (well, that last part is from memory, but Carville might well have said it :-)

Now we have a special prosecutor who ran an investigation for years, one that "reached to the highest levels of the White House" as the news headlines crowed, a dreadful case of abuse of power, revenge, skullduggery, yada yada.

But it turns out that Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald KNEW, from the very BEGINNING, who had leaked the name of the Plame....  and it wasn't ANYONE from the White House.

It was, though, a man whose opposition to the Iraq war was well known, a man who worked at the highest levels of the leftist-infested and borderline mutinous State Department, and a man well known as a Washington gossip who can't keep his mouth shut about ANYTHING.

Richard Armitage, former Navy Seal and current fat slob (see disclaimer at bottom of this post), is the leaker.  And he knew that he was the leaker, and said nothing.  He let Judy Miller go to jail, folks, and he let Scooter Libby be indicted and ruined....

Furthermore, COLIN POWELL knew and said nothing.  So much for that morally superior character of the former and FIRST BLACK SecState.

Armitage has a lot to explain.  Don't expect to hear from him, though, because he's a pet of the media and they just won't ask.

Fitzgerald has even more to explain, presuming there are some laws that may be brought into play.  Surely on some level it's illegal to run a taxpayer-funded investigation searching for the perpetrator of a crime when said perpetrator is already known to the investigator.  It's fraud, and it cost millions.

Not to mention it damaged the Bush administration publicly, which was obviously it's intended purpose.

In the good old days, mutinous crew members were unceremoniously tossed over the side.

I don't care if Armitage was once a Seal, he couldn't swim across his own supersized bathtub these days.  Throw the fat slob (disclaimer) overboard.

(disclaimer--  at 6'4" and 310 lbs, I feel it's my right to deride others for being fat.  I can take it, so I can dish it out.  After all, we can't talk about the war unless we served, and we can't talk about race unless we're minorities.  Well, I'm a big fat guy, and I can darn well talk about big fat guys.   And if Richard Armitage wore a yellow shirt and blue pants, cars would stop all day trying to drop off film... that guy is FAT.  He doesn't lay around on the beach anymore, because too many marine biologists have tried to roll him back into the water...  that guy is FAT.)

(and his teeth are so bad, everybody thinks he works for the British Foreign Office.  But I digress.)

Connections....

Why it took me this long to piece it together I'll never know, but...

Kofi Annan is  (currently) married to, of all people, Nane Lagergren, a Swede who is the niece of legendary Jew rescuer Raoul Wallenberg of the wealthy and influential Wallenbergs of Sweden.

Raoul, some will know, was sort of the black sheep of the family in the '30s, but while in Germany somehow found his purpose in life during the beginnings of the Holocaust.  He discovered what the Nazis were doing with "relocated" Jews, and he singlehandedly saved thousands of them.

For example, upon learning that Nazi soldiers were waiting at a train station to divert and arrest any Jew who did not have a certain document, Wallenberg would drive at top speed to the train station before that one, and when the train pulled in with its "cattlecars" full of shocked and crying Jews, Wallenberg would hand out dozens of copies of this document, blank, to the people on the train.  He relied on the fact that the soldiers were of low rank and unaccustomed to asking potentially difficult questions, and it worked.  With his own diplomatic papers in hand he would sometimes march under the noses of the soldiers, shouting for Swedish Jews and simultaneously handing out the blank papers that would MAKE the holders "Swedish".

Somehow Wallenberg managed to continue his industrious rescue missions for some time, but eventually was captured-- by the SOVIETS.  After the Soviet invasion of Berlin (for which US troops were held back, by the way, even though we got there first), the streets were full of uneducated and highly suspicious Russian soldiers on the lookout for "spies", as they'd been taught by their paranoid superior officers.  Wallenberg was young, good-looking, well-dressed, multilingual and loaded with foreign money.  To any Russian trained by the Soviets, this was a spy.

Although the Soviet Union always denied it, it is nevertheless almost certain that he spent decades in a Soviet gulag and died in the 1980s.  Sweden's role in the business of trying to get him back was a picture of cowardice and moral failure.  His own family seemed to prefer that he remain out of sight.  That is just part of the unhappy record of Sweden in terms of human rights and moral judgments.

But is said by a man who believes that Wallenberg was his fellow gulag prisoner (he had identified himself, so the man says) that the now gray-haired Raoul remained in good spirits even when elderly, often beginning his day barechested in the cold, exercising and rubbing snow on his body, smiling at others who came into his sight.

I hope I have remembered these details correctly.  I read them in a book called "Nazi Hunter", a biopic of the legendary Simon Wiesenthal.  I am not looking at the book as I write this, but the Wallenberg story made a giant impact on me.  Few men could endure abandonment and hardship as happily; then again, few men have such sound reasons to hope that God will approve of their choices and actions in this life.

I'll never forget the courage and moral clarity evinced by Raoul Wallenberg.  As a Christian, I believe none of us can avoid God's judgment of our sins, but Raoul Wallenberg's extraordinary deeds have surely earned him just a little of God's special favor.

Nane Annan does not deserve such an uncle.  She is truly and literally in bed with the thieves.

UN Corruption (but I repeat myself)

Atlas Shrugs is a passionate and loud blog by a, um, er, hot-looking New York babe named Pamela...

Fortunately for my own credibility's sake, I enjoyed her writing long before I realized that she looked like this.  (she is, as I said, loud.  Turn the sound lower before you click on this link.)

But her latest frontpage posting  on the UN's cheap/free housing scandal is bigger than you think.  The house to which she's referring, the Soros shanty that U.N. eminence Mark Malloch Brown inhabits sans market-rate rent payments, is a dwelling which would bring in five figures monthly if not more, so I am told.

Brown is significantly enhancing his financial position by accepting a favor that is, as Atlas points out, utterly against the letter and spirit of UN regulations.  And he's far from the only one.

But, as usual, when a leftist abuses the rules to benefit another leftist, rules just don't apply.  This is a superb example of the aristocratic attitude of these U.N. people, the feeling that because what they do is for the good of the world, they should simply not be questioned.  If they believed in God, they'd insist that He put them in their positions for His purposes.

Lacking a deity, their explanations are a bit more fuzzy, but you get the general picture.

Ixman, if you're reading this, I suggest a similar venue for the Tax Goddess, as she has very similar views and attitudes and appeal...  I'll be glad to provide the production services...  ;-)

The New York Sun asks a good question

...concerning the U.S. visit of Mohammed Khatemi, former president of Iran and still a member of some important groups or panels in that country.  Thanks to Powerline for posting these excerpts from the Sun, and the text of the rather confusing (Powerline thinks purposefully so) State Department response to the question-- why are you letting him come here?  Go to Powerline to get all the info; this is just a snippet.

This from the Sun--

The John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, fresh from having established itself as a headwater of anti-Israel agitation, is choosing to mark the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in an astounding way — by hosting Mohammed Khatemi, a former president of Iran, an enemy state levying a terrorist war against America. Mr. Khatemi has been invited to speak on, of all things, "Ethics of Tolerance in the Age of Violence." The title insults the intelligence of all those who would attend. What in the world is a man who presided over the July 9, 1999, crackdown on Tehran University, where hundreds of students were arrested and tortured, doing speaking about "tolerance" at a university?

For the same reason we've allowed Ted Kennedy to lecture President Bush on morality over these past six years, I guess....  because up is down and down is up in this country these days.

Don't forget, last week this man's former and current colleagues were ordering police to arrest women who aren't wearing a headscarf of sufficient size and coverage.  And to kick over and rip apart every satellite dish they find in the whole country.

Tolerant fellows, these Mullahs.

Oh, but Bush is evil.  Worse than Hitler.

Ever get the feeling you're living in that spinning tunnel thingie from the Time Tunnel show?  (or if you're too young to remember that, the spinning tunnel time machine from the Austin Powers movies, which was ripped off from the Time Tunnel show that you don't remember....)   ...  sort of a nauseous sense of not being solidly planted on the ground?

Right with you.

A must-download for Election '06

Many thanks to Phoenix Lady for linking me to this document at CEI.org.

It's a carefully researched, collated and organized one-hander that can be used to utterly deflate anybody making enviro-arguments based on Algore's book and movie.

I've only read the first handful of pages but I'm impressed.   I'm headed back to finish it now.

This sort of thing is vital to those of us who do our arguing on a one-person-at-a-time basis.  Not only can we win more convincingly, but we can hand out paper to reinforce the victory and perhaps win some other arguments at which we are not in attendance.... :-)

It's a PDF, so you can read or print it with the free Adobe acrobat reader that most Windows installs already have.  it's over 4.5 megabytes, but that's because it's technically graphics instead of text.

UPDATE--  after a full visual scan, I'm delighted to note that there are almost 11 pages of quote sources and footnotes in this 105 page doc.  Flying blind here, I'd bet that's more pages of bibliography than in Gore's book.  This paper is an exhaustive and thorough summary of Algore errata, which is pretty much everything IN his book and movie, which are almost identical in text.

This paper is the Inconvenient Truth, but only if you're Algore.

Turn to the UN....

...  if you're wondering how to score with the foreign chicks.

These Blue Helmet Guys are getting very very good at it, apparently.

We've already read about sex-maniac peacekeepers in various African countries, and now here's the word on the efforts of the prestigious United Nations in the newly created land of East Timor.

Can anyone with half a brain and a third of a conscience still give the UN credit for being the morally superior arbiter of world problems?

Disgusting.  And, unfortunately for the fearful young girls (and sometimes boys and goats) of East Timor, predictable.

UPDATE-- I just noticed two interesting elements in this news story.

1)  The text carefully says "the behavior of a
small number of the 18,000 peacekeepers".
     That's editorializing, an attempt to
minimize the impact of these assaults by
comparing the big number of 18,000 with
"a small number", which nonetheless goes
    unspecified.

2)  Note that only two incidents of attempted interaction
with goats are reported.  Both men suffered
the same humiliating injury to the relevant body parts,
sufficiently serious as to warrant evacuation.
And both were from the same country.  Draw what
cultural conclusions you want from the name of the
country, because I'm not going there.

Media counterpunches in Oz

Looks like at least one Aussie newspaper is launching a counteroffensive against Alexander Downer, the foreign minister who has publicly said that the Israeli attack on Hezbollah ambulances is a hoax.

Lots of interesting info here in Andrew Bolt's Herald-Sun column and blog, including two differing versions of the story told by one of the men in the ambulance convoy, and his mysterious injuries which required huge face-sized bandages but left not a scab or a scar on him when he was photographed less than a week later.

But worst of all is the possibility that sensible people can look at the photo on the link above and dispute that it is the hole left behind when something large and round was unbolted and removed from it.  Like the red plastic domed air vent that is attached to almost every other ambulance in the region.  Coincidentally.

But the Hezbollah guys say an explosive missile punched this hole in the roof of the ambulance but by some miracle didn't blow out all the windows and burn/melt all the upholstery.  Even allowing that the explosive charge did not detonate at all, LOOK AT THE HOLE!

It's NOT a puncture wound in the steel roof.  Its a manufactured flange.  Even the paint is absent where the rim of the domed vent would have prevented paint from being applied to the metal!

To these jaundiced eyes it looks like they took out the circular vent, struck the roof several times with axes, shot lots of holes in the roof with various rifles and shotguns and then used crowbars to stretch and distort the vent hole so it wouldn't be SO OBVIOUS.

UPDATE/EXPANSION--  in that story in the Australian, their Beirut reporter Chalov describes the injured man's story.

Ambulance driver Qassem Shalim was closing the doors of the ambulance when the vehicle was hit.   "I am sure the missile was fired from a drone. The blue light was flashing on our roof, the red cross was clear and there was a light on the Lebanese Red Cross flag above me. Everything I said happened did happen," he told The Australian in Beirut.

But did it?  Here is the same reporter's account of the same man's story, printed in the same newspaper on July 26th--

Qasin Shalin, the driver of the first ambulance, and the only one of six people to have escaped with light injuries, sat upright in bed, surrounded by the orange-clad men of Lebanon’s Red Cross, who have come to be known as the country’s bravest civil servants...  Mr Shalin was spared more serious injuries by the armoured vest he was wearing and the driver’s canopy that protected him from a direct hit.

So in the first story back in July, he was driving the ambulance and was protected by the canopy over the driver's cabin.

But in his second account, in which he's defending his honor by insisting "everything I said happened did happen!", he says he was at the back of the ambulance closing the doors.

Also, in the new version it was a helicopter that fired missiles and in the original it was an Israeli pilotless airplane, a drone.

Maybe the guy's brain was still rattled from the severe heavily bandaged head injuries that amazingly left no scars or scabs a few days later.

Or, like Anderson Cooper says in a CNN appearance that now is a part of this video, they're just making it up.

Here is some other text from that original story July 26th in the Australian--

The UN yesterday stopped short of accusing Hezbollah of using ambulances as transport vehicles. However, it suggested that the cowardly tactic of blending in with civilians had contributed to the terrible toll taken on communities in the south, where most of the 391 Lebanese have been killed.

"Consistently, from the Hezbollah heartland, my message was that Hezbollah must stop this cowardly blending ... among women and children," UN humanitarian affairs chief Jan Egeland said.

"I heard they were proud because they lost very few fighters and that it was the civilians bearing the brunt of this. I don't think anyone should be proud of having many more children and women dead than armed men."

Amen to that.  Thank you Mr. Egeland, a UN official who seems to know what is actually going on.  But if you'll click the link called "this video" a few paragraphs back in this post, you'll see a video that positively proves that Hezbollah and Hamas regularly use ambulances as explosive and weapons transports and to move armed militants to and from attacks.

HT Powerline.

E is for the Extra Storms we don't have

To read the op/ed pages this past spring, the evil George W. Bush was planning to cause more evil global-warming storms this year than last, as a part of his evil plan to destroy the world.

But this summary shows that, as of this calendar week in 2005, we were at 12 atlantic storms or hurricanes.  As of today, this year's total is 5.

And not only are they less than half in number, they are significantly less severe.  One hurricane actually fell apart while still south of Cuba.  This current storm, Ernesto, couldn't even maintain tropical storm force as it hit Florida, diminishing to a tropical depression instead.

And I must note that this summer here in Houston, Texas, things have been considerably cooler than the past two summers.  In fact, tomorrow morning the low should be below 70, as we have just seen an "August cold front" pass through our area.  Highs have mostly been in the low 90s, with short periods in the upper 90s earlier this month.

I remind you of the former Soviet Union's meteorologists, who have stated publicly that they believe the earth will be cooler in 10 years than it is now.  They say that a powerful sunspot cycle is the primary cause of recent heat, and it is already on the wane.

A professional and attentive media would revisit last spring's doomsayer stories and ask those "experts" why this year's storm count is so much lower than they predicted.

How I wish we HAD a professional and attentive media.

Proof of Perfidy

I was astonished to see the first Zapp video of Green Helmet Guy directing a movie production instead of rescuing bomb victims.

I was astounded to see the pictures of the ambulance supposedly hit by Israeli missiles, and to realize that the "missile hole" was a flanged attachment point for a big plastic vent in the center of the roof, which had been removed in order to expose the hole and then claim an Israeli missile did it.

But this video over at Hot Air is the most astonishing of all.  It is video proof that Hamas and Hezbollah regularly use ambulances, even UN marked ambulances, to transport soldiers and weapons and even as "getaway vehicles" in Hamas attacks.

And there is little or no doubt that some UN officials are fully aware of it.

Watch the whole thing, a couple of times, share it with someone, and note the depth of detail and the quality reporting by Michelle Malkin.

This is the kind of story that should be the lead on every television news broadcast in this nation, but instead is ignored and covered up daily.  If the press were interested only in the facts, as they constantly claim, then surely these incontrovertible facts would play large in the ongoing story of Israeli confrontation of Islamic terrorism.

But no.

While the media chases the John Mark Karr story like drooling dogs, the most important and world-changing stories of our time are just snuffed out.

Appalling, but it's now the norm for the lamestream media.  Not content to simply be lazy about their jobs or to baldly support the American political left, now they are actively involved in propaganda management on behalf of declared enemies of the United States.

Here's a news story on an issue I still can't believe the media do not stand up and scream about-- that is, how Islam denies women the basic rights they fought for in this country for decades.

Iran, apparently, is deploying the clothes police, slapping women around for being insufficiently covered up in public.

It seems they've been wearing headscarves that are too small, and men can see too much of their hair.

The harlots.  The Jezebels.  Who do they think they are, tempting us poor men like that?  By Allah, if such a woman is assaulted by a group of faithful Muslim men, it's her own fault for dressing so provocatively!

The saddest part of this story is the admission that a woman's personal or family connections are the biggest factor determining her fate in this matter.  Poorly connected individuals can even spend years in jail just for wearing a headscarf that doesn't cover enough!

But at the end of this story, the UPI writers and editors show their scrambled priorities.  They mention in passing that the police are also "cracking down" on satellite dishes.

"Cracking down" in this case means destroying.  Dishes are, after all, illegal in Iran.

It is against the law for citizens of Iran to have outside sources of information about the world
, other than the official government sources which are so generously given them.

Perhaps the women have been learning about the sinfully tiny headscarves from the Fashion Channel.  We'll have no more of THAT.

Islamic Women's Rights are pretty much nonexistent.  American groups like the National Organization for Women embarrass themselves daily when they evince outrage at Bush and the Christian Right for their supposedly medieval treatment of women, but ignore ACTUAL medieval treatment of women by Muslims all over the world.  Including, I might add, the "arranged marriage" for the young Afghan/American man driving that killer SUV in the story below.

SUV attacks innocent bystanders

Here's the classic "SUV attack" story, with a twist.

IN San Francisco yesterday, an SUV killed one pedestrian and injured more than a dozen others.  the SUV made multiple attempts to run down people; it was not just one incident.

Normally, the press would just put the blame on SUVs.  But this was a Honda Pilot, a small SUV that even the media recognizes does not fall under the heading of "gas-guzzling threat to the planet."

So they're left with the awkward fact that the driver was a Muslim, one Omeed Popal of Afghanistan.

But wait... there's more!

One of the addresses of an attempted run-down turns out to be right next door to the local Jewish community center.  Here's the relevant info in a news story on sfgate.com:

The SUV struck two people in front of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco on California Street, a few blocks from where the rampage ended.

Blood covered the sidewalk in front of the center's gift store entrance, and 50 feet farther down the sidewalk lay a mangled bicycle.

Security cameras in front of the center captured images of the incident, which happened at 1:12 p.m., according to Aaron Rosenthal, spokesman for the community center.

Gavin Newsome, mayor of San Fran and a flaming liberal (but I repeat myself), says the attack was "senseless...  utterly inexplicable... impossible to imagine".  Yes, an elected official with more than nominal responsibility for the public welfare cannot imagine that a young Muslim man might attack and kill Jews in his fair city.

Next time, people of SanFran, vote for someone with more imagination!

Family members are saying Popal was under stress because his Afghan family had arranged a marriage for him.

Well, when I get stressed, I always go and run down innocent people in the street.  Don't you?

I get so TIRED of people pretending that Islam has nothing to do with the unhinged actions of Muslims in this country.  So what if the guy was mentally upset about his arranged marriage (perhaps an aspect of rigid Islam that needs some more PUBLIC ATTENTION, people!).  Even if it explains why he snapped, it does NOT explain why he went to the Jewish Community Center to do it!

Radical Islam explains that, completely and satisfactorily.

But you never hear about that part on the news.

The autogizmo

A friend checks in with this email regarding the automated notification software which lets friends know I've posted anew here:

can you change the automated message to speak of you and your blog in the first person singular?  It is a little annoying and does not befit the stellar command of our forthetimebeingprincipal language that you possess.

The automated message he received was titled, "Dave Perkins has updated their blog".

It seems the Townhall dot com software believes that every blog is a group effort.  It has only one personal pronoun, genderless and inaccurate for any blog written by a single person, which is almost all of them.

Sadly, the answer is no.  I can't change it.  :-)

Or should I say "no puede cambiarlo".

It's worse than I thought...

Powerline has a sobering study of an article by Caroline Glick in the Jerusalem Post this week.  I'll let their link take you to the Post, as my purpose in this is to take you to their post.

The article explores the increasingly clear truth that the modern world media, as well as many Western governments, are de facto propaganda assistants to Islamic terrorists.  Much of it is intentional, if not all.

The closing paragraphs are especially troublesome to me, since I just finished reading a couple of articles about international attempts to wrest control of the internet from American companies and about efforts to tax and limit the use of the web.  Given Ms. Glick's eye-opening summary in this article, the loss of the internet might well equate to some new level of suppression of free speech and subjugation of the public under some rather narrow and morally questionable entities.

Glick closes--

"As each day passes it becomes clear that the responsibility of protecting our nations and societies from internal disintegration has passed to the hands of individuals, often working alone, who refuse to accept the degradation of their societies and so fight with the innovative tools of liberty to protect our way of life. The vigilance of just a handful of bloggers brought us the knowledge of the corruption of our media and the network of global NGOs that we have come to rely on to tell us the "objective" truth.

It is up to all citizens of the free world, who value our freedom to recognize this corruption, applaud the bloggers and join them in refusing to allow these corrupt institutions to cloud our commitment to freedom."

An inspiring call to purposeful action, but also an alert to great future danger.  If we are deprived of a significant ability to talk amongst ourselves, we will be victims of whoever controls the flow of public information.

Every dictatorship in the world, past and present, relies on controlling what its people hear and read.  In Iran last week the security forces were going house to house destroying every satellite dish they could see.  In North Korea, the only radio for sale in stores is one that is perpetually tuned to just one frequency, the government channel.

And remember the old Soviet Union, which produced its own newspaper to edify its citizens.  The title, of course, was Pravda.

"Truth".

New convert Centanni at risk?

.... if any Fox News viewers happen to see Steve Centanni back at work in the Palestinian terror-tories, please drop me a line and let me know.

You see, as Centanni has now "converted to Islam", he is at risk in a new and different way.  As a "muslim", he will be expected to pray five times a day, to speak against Israel, perhaps to grow a beard...  and it will be fairly easy for adherents of Islam to see, watching him at work on their street, whether he has "renounced his Muslim faith" or not.  If, for example, he does not jog into the nearest mosque when the Muezzin call sounds, he is apostate.

And we all know how it goes for Muslims who go away from the faith.  Fatwa time.  Kill them all.

If he goes into their terror-tory again, visibly fallen away from the "faith" he so recently embraced, will he not be twice the target?

Centanni may well return to the Palestinian terror-tories, but if he does it and survives, it will be just one more proof that those who use their faith as an excuse for thuggish criminal behavior do not actually take it as seriously as they want us to believe.

If they were serious, they'll take Centanni again, and this time they won't give him back.

Centanni and Wiig have both praised the wonderful beautiful gloriously perfect people of Palestine, who elected the bloodthirsty Hamas in a landslide by the way, but the question remains (and it is the question for our time, for the whole world):

Is talking nicely about them enough?  Or will they just "kill us last"?

I think it is not enough.  I think we either fight them or accept "conversion".  Just talking nicely about them accomplishes NOTHING, as the Germans recently learned to their dismay upon discovery of the train bombing plot.

Germans were quoted saying things like "we thought our adamant opposition to Bush and to the war would make them give us a pass."

What will you do?

Millions have died on this planet for refusing to renounce their faith and convert.  Most religions have had their black moments, historically speaking.  But Christianity hasn't had that sort of evangelical outreach for several hundred years.  And the Muslims, who sprang into existence only a few hundred years before the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades, had already firmly established that Allah commanded them to convert or kill the infidel.  They practically taught the Christian Europeans how to do it.

Because I'm a cynic, I'm betting Centanni will go back to Hamasistan.  Because he knows they won't take his "conversion" any more seriously than he did.
